600 dogs and even more people turn out for Corgi Beach Day

About 600 corgis and thousands of people braved the rain Saturday to attend So Cal Corgi Beach Day at the Huntington Dog Beach.

“It was an overwhelming turnout, considering the weather conditions,” said Kelly McLemore, co-founder of the annual event. “Corgi people are truly die-hard committed.”

The organizer, So Cal Corgi Nation, has held three events celebrating the short-legged dogs — in the spring, summer and fall — every year since 2012.

Activities Saturday included corgi costume, talent and limbo contests.

The canines also sported bikinis and speedos for the corg-kini competition.
