Man hit by 2 cars and killed is ID’d
The person who was struck by two cars and killed while crossing Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach on Friday night has been identified as a 54-year-old homeless man, authorities said.
Coroners officials on Tuesday identified Genaro Ruiz Sanchez as the man who police said was crossing the highway near 19th Street when he was struck at about 10:30 p.m.
He first was hit by a 2001 Mercedes-Benz sedan headed south and then by a 2005 Honda sedan also headed south, according to police.
Officers found him dead in the road, according to police.
A third car, a 2013 Tesla sedan, rear-ended the Honda but didn’t hit the victim, police said.
Police said they don’t think drugs or alcohol played a part in the collision, and they have not issued citations or made arrests.
The matter is under investigation, and police are asking that anyone with information call Accident Investigator Robert Barr at (714) 536-5666 or Accident Investigator Josh Page at (714) 536-5670.
