H.B. man dies after his truck crashes into a telephone pole
A Huntington Beach man died early Friday after the pickup he was driving crashed into a telephone pole near Edinger Avenue and Fantasia Lane, authorities said.
Huntington Beach police believe 28-year-old Austin Elmore was driving west on Edinger in a 1992 Ford Ranger when he crossed onto the other side of the road and struck a curb. The truck then hit a wooden telephone pole, police said.
Officials responded to the scene shortly after 4 a.m. Elmore was later identified by the Orange County coroner’s office.
The pickup may have been speeding, though it is unclear whether alcohol was a factor in the crash, police said.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Investigator Robert Barr at (714) 536-5666 or Accident Investigator Josh Page at (714) 536-5670.
