Huntington Beach lights tree for holidays on Sunday

Huntington Beach will kick into holiday gear on Sunday with its traditional downtown tree lighting celebration called “Miracle on Main Street,” with guest of honor Santa Claus.

Free festivities including live entertainment, holiday craft vendors and refreshments will run from 2 to 7 p.m. on Main between Walnut and Olive avenues.

Here’s the schedule of events, presented by the Huntington Beach Downtown Business Improvement District:

2 p.m.: Vendor fair opens

2:15 p.m.: TubaChristmas, a band of nearly 50 tuba players

3:30 p.m.: Forever Young, a group of performers mostly over 90 years old

4 p.m.: Huntington Beach High School cheer team

4 p.m.: Treats and hot cocoa

4:20 p.m.: Sunshine Generation, a performing-arts program for children ages 6 to 12 offered through Huntington Beach Parks and Recreation

4:45 p.m.: APA Surf City Singers, a group of choral performers from local high schools

5:30 p.m.: All-American Boys Chorus

6 p.m.: Santa’s arrival and tree lighting. The ceremony will be followed by photos with Santa and more music from the All-American Boys Chorus.
