Taking on their second opponent from San Clemente in as many weeks to open the 2015 Pop Warner Football season, the Huntington Beach Pee Wee Division Green Chargers won for the second time by rolling to a 30-0 victory over the host San Clemente Black Tritons at San Clemente High Saturday.

The Green Chargers, who opened their season the Aug. 29 with a 36-6 road rout of the San Clemente Red Tritons, are 2-0.

Huntington’s defense shined in Saturday’s shutout. It registered seven sacks including two by Tyler Moses. Rex Campbell, Ryan Rivituso, Gabe Hoelzel, Eric Hernandez and Vincent Maza each had one sack. The Black Tritons were unable to move the ball against a defensive front of Moses, Rivituso, Hoelzel, Hudson Letterman, Lucas Jones, Justin Roblilard and Skylar Thompson, and the solid play of linebackers Campbell, Philip Overturf and Shane Dzwilewski. The Green Chargers’ secondary of Tristan Copeland, Anthony Robinson, Ethan Ton and Nico Brown shut down the Black Tritons’ air attack.

Ton had a diving interception and Brown intercepted a pass, weaved his way downfield behind blocking from his teammates and scored on a 90-yard return.

Hoelzel led Huntington’s impressive rushing attack with two touchdowns and had a 70-yard run and 60-yard pass reception for scores negated by penalties against the Green Chargers. The offensive line of William Burke, Johnny Figueroa, Liam Kennedy, Joe Gentilella and Mike Kelly opened up holes for the run game and protected quarterback Elijah Brown who threw a touchdown pass to Robinson (three receptions, 40 yards).

The Green Chargers return home to Edison High this weekend for a key, early-season game when they play host to the defending Orange Bowl champion Saddleback Valley Cougars at 9 a.m. Saturday.
