The Huntington Beach Green Chargers sought their third consecutive victory when they battled the San Clemente Red Tritons Saturday, and recorded that win behind an explosive passing attack and stout defensive effort that led to a 31-0 win in Pop Warner Football Pee Wee Division action at San Clemente High.

Quarterback Elijah Brown completed 10 of 25 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns. His first touchdown came on a 30-yard pass to Skylar Thompson, and the two hooked up on a one-point conversion pass, for a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. Brown hit Shane Dzwilewski with a 25-yard pass prior to his scoring pass to Thompson.

Brown and Nico Brown connected on a 15-yard scoring pass to put the lead at 13-0 in the second quarter. On Huntington’s next possession, running back Tyler Moses caught a 25-yard pass from Elijah Brown and a few plays later, punched it in for a one-yard scoring plunge to take the score to 19-0. Just before halftime, the Green Chargers (5-3) struck again as Brown threw a 40-yard scoring pass to Ryan Rivituso to make it 250 at the break.

In the third quarter, Tristan Copeland finished off the scoring with an 11-yard touchdown.

Huntington’s offensive line of William Burke, Michael Kelly, Liam Kennedy, Johnny Figueroa and Joseph Gentilella protected Brown and opened up running lanes for Copeland, Moses and Gabe Hoelzel.

The Green Chargers defense had a big game led by the line of Eric Hernandez, Lukas Jones, Vincent Maza (blocked punt), Hudson Letterman and Justin Robilard, linebackers Dzwilewski (sack), Moses, Hoelzel and Philip Overturf (interception), cornerbacks Copeland and Ethan Ton, and Nico Brown at safety.

The Green Chargers host the San Clemente Black Tritons at 3 p.m. Saturday at Edison High.
