Water Polo: Williams part of Team USA win

In its first match since winning the 2015 FINA World Championship last August, the USA Water Polo Women’s Senior National Team, which includes Alys Williams of Huntington Beach (Edison High/UCLA), rolled to a 14-3 victory over China at the William Woollett Aquatics Center in Irvine Saturday.

Williams scored once, her goal with 4:47 left in the third quarter putting Team USA’s lead at 8-2. Kiley Neushul (Dos Pueblos/Stanford) led all scorers with four goals.

Team USA is back in action Nov. 23 for the first game of a three-game series with Australia at 7 p.m. at the Coggan Family Aquatic Center in La Jolla.

The teams also will play Nov. 24 (7 p.m.) at Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos, and Nov. 27 (2 p.m.) at Dos Pueblos High in Goleta.
