Magic Johnson breaks Lakers’ Twitter silence
On Dec. 14, Magic Johnson decided he had seen enough from the struggling Lakers, swearing a vow of silence on Twitter.
“This will be my last tweet about the @Lakers until they win three in a row!” read Johnson’s entry.
At the time of his post, the Lakers were struggling against the Washington Wizards on the road, following a four-game losing streak.
The Lakers would ultimately win in Washington, 102-96, and then in Philadelphia two days later over the Sixers, 111-98. Pau Gasol’s return helped spark a tight, tight victory in Los Angeles against the Charlotte Bobcats (101-100) on Tuesday.
Johnson stayed true to his word, breaking his Lakers silence Wednesday: “I’m glad I can tweet about the @Lakers now since they beat the Bobcats last night and won their 3rd game in a row!”
He also mentioned that he was, “Happy to see Pau Gasol back in the lineup, he makes the @Lakers a better team.”
He also made a bold prediction: “NBA Fans you will see @amareisreal back w/Knicks and @SteveNash back w/ Lakers on Christmas Day! They both make their teams so much better!”
The Knicks have been without Amar’e Stoudemire all season with a knee injury. Nash suffered a leg injury in the second game of the year.
Both are working to return soon. Nash could be back prior to Christmas on Saturday against the Golden State Warriors, but that has yet to be decided. Stoudemire’s status is a little more unclear, but his season debut is expected to come shortly.
