Watch: Video breakdown of what isn’t working for the Lakers

Share

Can the Lakers reverse course and climb out of the 18-25 hole they’ve dug for themselves?

Using video examples, Coach Nick of BBallBreakdown (below) explains why he isn’t so sure. The Lakers’ offense has flaws, but that might not be crippling, he says. It’s on defense where the team looks ill-prepared.

Teams are taking advantage of Steve Nash. They’re outrunning the Lakers in transition. Kobe Bryant often loses track of his man if he doesn’t have the ball. The Lakers’ communication in general is poor.

Coach Nick, a.k.a. former Lake Balboa Birmingham High School boys’ Coach Nick Hauselman, points out that Dwight Howard has not looked impressive on either side of the ball. His defense on the pick and roll leaves a lot to be desired.

The Lakers as a team seem a step slow in almost every aspect when trying to generate a defensive stop.

After the 102-84 win over the Utah Jazz on Friday night, perhaps the Lakers will turn their season around. If they continue to play basketball as illustrated in the video breakdown, that probably won’t be the case.
