Nick Young is trying to get Lakers teammate Kobe Bryant to return to the court as soon as possible.

There’s one good way to do that -- put him down.

“I’ve been talking trash to him a little bit to get out there,” Young said. “I’m just waiting for him to get out there so I can go at him, you know, stop dodging me.”

Young may be motivational, but he’s not delusional.

“I can talk trash now because he can’t do nothing right now,” Young said of Bryant, who is recovering for a torn Achilles’ tendon.

Bryant did some light jogging on the court and some shooting Wednesday. And of course he fired back at Young behind closed doors.

“He’s saying he’s been watching me and I only go right or something like that,” Young said. “He’s studying me right now.”

Young said he’s happy with how the team’s chemistry is developing. The on-court stuff, however, has been a bit harder.

“I’m a little sore now,” Young said.

The sharp-shooting small forward/guard has been in the league for seven years now, but playing for the Lakers is quite a transition.

“First day was kind of tough for me, trying to figure out things and where to be at on the floor,” he said. “I was just getting in the way of other people. But this is Day 5, and I’m a lot better.”

A lot more confident too.
