Lakers visit Great Wall of China, become tourist attraction themselves

The Lakers are in China preparing for games against the Golden State Warriors in Beijing and Shanghai.

On Saturday, team members took a charter bus to one of the country’s best known attractions, the Great Wall, where they in turn became an attraction to the locals.

“This is intense,” Pau Gasol told The Times. “The fans are very forward here. Everything is a little different. But it’s nice to be appreciated and see this much emotion and excitement. It’s pretty crazy.”

The team posted a number of pictures via Twitter:

The Lakers are scheduled to play in Beijing on Tuesday and in Shanghai on Friday. Both games are set for 4:30 a.m. PDT.

The schedule then has the team back in Los Angeles for an Oct. 22 exhibition game against the Utah Jazz at Staples Center.

The regular season is to open on Oct. 29, at home against the Clippers.
