Track and field

It’s part two of the Usain Bolt Show. The enigmatic and charismatic sprinter from Jamaica goes in the 200 meters. If you watched him accelerate at the end of the 100, how can there be any doubt that he will smoke the field in his favorite event? Another final will be in the 110-meter hurdles with the possibility that Jamaica — with Omar McLeod and Hansle Parchment — will take the top two podium spots.

This will be Simone Biles’ last chance for a gold when she competes in the finals of the floor exercise, arguably her best event. A first-place finish would send her home with four golds. Interestingly, her top competitor will be teammate Aly Raisman, who won in London four years ago. The men finish off their apparatus competition with the high bar and parallel bars. Danell Leyva of the U.S. will compete in both events with an outside chance of a medal.

Basketball

Knockout play starts with the U.S. women playing Japan. As shaky as the U.S. men have been, the women have been incredibly dominant. The team has won its five games by an average of almost 41 points. The other quarterfinal games are Australia-Serbia, Spain-Turkey and France-Canada.
