Preview: Clippers vs. Orlando Magic
The Clippers begin their seven-game road trip against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
The Magic will be playing without Aaron Gordon (fractured fifth metatarsal in his left foot), Devyn Marble (strained right rotator cuff) and Kyle O’Quinn (sprained left ankle).
Clippers small forward Chris Douglas Roberts has a strained right Achilles and is listed as questionable.
Each of the Magic’s starters are averaging double figures — Nikola Vucevic (18.8 points and 11.8 rebounds), Tobias Harris (18.4 points and 8.2 rebounds), Evan Fournier (17.3 points), Victor Oladipo (14 points) and Channing Frye (10.4 points).
Blake Griffin is leading the Clippers with 23.1 points and 7.3 rebounds a game. Chris Paul is averaging 17.3 points and 9.8 assists.
The Clippers and Magic have split both meetings in each of the last two seasons.
In the Clippers’ most recent game Monday against the Chicago Bulls, they blew a 14-point lead and trailed by as many as 19 points during the 105-89 loss.
The Clippers (5-4) have been struggling defensively, which could present a problem against a Magic team that is shooting a league-best 41.6% from beyond the three-point line. The Magic (5-7) has won five of its last eight games after starting the season 0-4.
