USC linebacker Cameron Smith and cornerback Iman Marshall were named to the Sporting News Freshman All-America team.

Smith, who came to USC from Granite Bay High near Sacramento, is tied for team lead with 78 tackles, despite missing the final three games because of a season-ending knee injury suffered against Colorado.

He also intercepted three passes against Utah, returning one for a touchdown.

Marshall, who played at Long Beach Poly High, started 10 games and intercepted three passes.

USC plays Wisconsin in the Holiday Bowl on Dec. 30 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.
