Share

If you love to ski or snowboard but hate pricey lift tickets, get thee to Utah for three days of powder pleasure and one sweet deal.

The deal: Ogden, about 40 miles north of Salt Lake City, has a Ski 3 for $139 offer that is available at check-in when you book a two-night stay in six area hotels, including Hampton Inn & Suites and Courtyard by Marriott.

To be clear, the $139 doesn’t include the cost of your stay. Room prices at hotels offering the deal range from $89 to $139 weekdays and $79 to $109 on weekends.

The three-day pass provides one full day of skiing or snowboarding at nearby Snowbasin (usually $99 for a one-day lift ticket) and Powder Mountain ($73 value) and either a full day or one night on the slopes at Nordic Valley Ski Resort ($40 to $45 value).

When: Ogden’s ski season typically runs from December to early or mid-April, depending on snow. The pass expires at the end of the 2015/2016 ski season.

Details: Since you can’t snag this deal until check-in, I couldn’t test it. But Sydnie Furton of Visit Ogden says it is an easy paperless process.

At check-in, tell the front desk clerk that you want the Ski 3 deal, and you will receive a card with a unique promo code and instructions for using your phone to buy as many Ski 3 passes as you like. After you buy a pass or two, you’ll receive a text message with redemption details.

Insider tip: And if you enjoy après-ski cocktails, be sure to drop by Utah’s oldest continually operating bar, the Shooting Star Saloon in Huntsville. It opened in 1879.
