Reader recommendation: Filoli estate in Woodside, Calif.

We recently discovered Filoli while on an outing to see the Pulgas Water Temple not far from San Mateo. Filoli is a historic site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The restored estate was once the home of the Roth family, owner of the Matson passenger and shipping company, and one room on the tour contains a large display of Matson memorabilia. Both Filoli and Pulgas Water Temple are worth a visit.
