Michigan: Flower power at Mackinac Island’s Lilac Festival

Check out the flower power on Mackinac Island in June when the island lights up with millions of lilac blooms.

Originally just a one-day event, the Lilac Festival now runs for 10 days and draws thousands of visitors to this picturesque island where Lake Huron meets Lake Michigan. Mackinac doesn’t allow motor-driven vehicles; events include a horse-drawn carriage parade and a Taste of Mackinac event.

Two- and three-night tours, organized by Mission Point Resort, include lilac and garden tours with a horticulturist, and fudge-making tours.
