Play ball! Five Arizona hotels that shower spring training fans with extras

Spring training brings 15 Major League Baseball teams, including the Dodgers and the Angels, to 10 stadiums in the greater Phoenix area. You can watch the pros’ practice games Feb. 23-March 27. Buy your own tickets to the games you want to see, then bed down in one of these hotels that offer some extras for spring training fans.

The Hermosa Inn

The 1930s boutique hotel in Paradise Valley has just 43 rooms and casitas with an old Southwest feel. You’ll find quiet patios, fireplaces and a Play Ball offer that includes two cocktails and a daily $25 credit for food and beverages (Lon’s and Lon’s Last Drop are the restaurant and bar on site). The offer is good Feb. 23-March 26.

Mountain Shadows

Mountain Shadows, also in Paradise Valley, opened last April as a new build on the grounds of a ‘50s-era resort.

The 183-room hotel offers a Spring Training Package that includes a stay, $50 resort credit, and a room upgrade, based on availability. The offer is good Feb. 21-March 26 but must be booked by Feb. 28.

The Autograph Collection hotel has 277 rooms and describes its vibe as “quirky elegance.” The Spring Training Getaway comes with $25 food and beverage credit, $25 spa credit, free Wi-Fi and extras such as craft beers and caramel popcorn. The resort fee is waived too. Good for stays Thursdays through Sundays Feb. 15-April 1.

Hotel Valley Ho

This hotel in downtown Scottsdale makes the most of its Midcentury Modern design. The retro-styled hotel’s Home Run Package comes with a $50 nightly resort credit and a room upgrade (based on availability). The offer is good for stays between Feb. 21 and March 26; must be booked by Feb. 28.

Graduate Hotel

The Spring Training package at the Graduate, which is across the street from Arizona State University, includes a night’s stay, two lawn tickets to a game and a goodie bag. The package is available Feb. 23-March 23.
