Web buzz: Jetradar app seeks out cheaper fares

Share

This flight comparison app can help you find cheaper rates than some of your favorite online travel agencies.

Name: Jetradar

Available for: iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch

What it does: It’s a search engine that finds airfares at 20 airlines, 23 online ticket agencies, such as Airtickets.com, Ebookers, Vayama and BudgetAir, and 40 travel agencies around with world, without a commission.

Cost: Free

What’s hot: Not only did Jetradar find cheaper fares when I tested it against Kayak (one way, San Diego to Charleston), Travelocity (round trip, San Diego to London Heathrow) and Fly.com (round trip, LAX to New York’s JFK), it also saved me time. The search results deliver your fare, including taxes, so I didn’t have to click through more pages to find the final price. As a bonus, it has a filter for stopovers of up to 21 hours. Click on the “Passengers” button if you’d like to store travel partners to simplify future bookings.

What’s not: There were a few iTunes reviews complaining about its speed, but any slight delays didn’t bother me much. However, I would love to see it include multi-city trips.

Worth it: Absolutely. See for yourself by testing it against your favorite flight search engine.
