On passports, ‘sunny’ Seattle, travel’s new look

A politician with passport pull

It was rather funny that you wrote an article about the hassle and extended waiting time for passports [“Need a Passport Fast? Be Prepared to Pay,” More for Your Money, March 18] since I spent the early part of last week in passport hell.

Anyway, I found a resource that helped me immensely: my local congressman’s office. The lead aide in the office told me that congressional offices had a special number that they could call in emergency situations. She took my info, made a call. I received my passport the next day.

Chasing sunsets that ‘glow’

Was perusing Sunday’s “newer” Travel section and noted your “Reveling in the Sunsets” list [Airfares chart].

Thanks to your recommendation, I am immediately canceling my reservations to Honolulu and Montego Bay, Jamaica, and booking passage to Seattle. I always thought it rained a lot in the Pacific Northwest. Thanks for the information. Written tongue firmly in cheek.

You’ve tried it, now go back

I live in Santa Barbara. Our local paper isn’t willing to learn from its mistakes, which is why we all now read the Los Angeles Times.

I only hope your editors are smart enough to realize what is not working and go back to the tried and true.
