Freaky Valentine, be mine -- at hotels in San Francisco and Denver

Yes, it’s almost here -- Valentine’s Day. And it’s not necessarily about chocolates, Champagne and rose petal turn-downs, though plenty of hotels are offering those standard heart pleasers. What about a little Snuggie nookie? Or Twister passion? Fortunately, some hotels have thought about catering to those freaky Valentines.

San Francisco: Yvonne Lembi-Detert prides herself on never repeating a Valentine’s Day package, or any package for that matter, at the urban hotel chain Personality Hotels that she heads. It was a Christmas gift to her daughter that made the chief executive seize on a shred of pop culture that would become the key to her 2011 hotel love package: a Snuggie.

“God, how ugly those things are,” she said in a recent phone interview. But when she stumbled on the “Snuggie Sutra” book (not, I must point out, an official Snuggie tome), she knew she had the makings of an offbeat romantic offer.

The Snuggie Love package at Hotel Union Square, Hotel Diva and Kensington Park comes with a monkey-patterned double Snuggie, the book (which promises “erotic fun in your blanket with sleeves!”), four SKYY-flavored vodka mini-bottles and a late check-out time of 2 p.m. Oh and did I mention a room? That too.

Prices start at $159 per night, excluding tax, through April. And you won’t be stealing when you take home the Snuggie and the book. Contact: Personality Hotels, (800) 553-1900

Denver: The Curtis Hotel in Denver has put together its own pop culture package -- this one involving a round (or more?) of Twister. With this package, the hotel room comes love-ready with the Twister game set up on the bed.

The “Crazy in Love” package at this Doubletree hotel also comes with a bottle of wine in the room or a round of shots at the hotel’s Corner Office bar. Rose-petal turn-down is part of the deal too; don’t spill the petals on the Twister board! Guests get to take the game home too. Prices start at $229 a night plus tax, and the offer is good indefinitely. Contact: The Curtis Hotel, (303) 571-0300
