If you’ve “done” the big cruise ship that circles Hawaii, maybe it’s time to think small.

American Safari Cruises is offering one-week and 10-day “unstructured” small-ship voyages to the islands. The inaugural Hawaii season for the 36-passenger yacht Safari Explorer will include two 10-night “Hawaii’s Traditional Shores” cruises — one leaving Wednesday from the Big Island and another Dec. 8 from Maui — and seven-night “Hawaiian Seascapes” voyages with weekly departures alternating between the two islands through May 11.

The ship, which is equipped with kayaks, paddleboards and motorboats, will visit Maui, Lanai, Molokai and the Big Island. It will anchor each night at a sheltered inlet or port where guests can swim, snorkel, bike or hike to remote waterfalls.

The per-person fare based on double occupancy starts at $6,495 for the 10-day cruises and $4,995 for the seven-night cruises.
