Sacramento: $129 for a night on the floating Delta King Hotel

The Delta King riverboat traveled from Sacramento to San Francisco on the Sacramento River in the early 20th century. It has been permanently docked in Old Sacramento, the hub of the city’s historic heart. Groupon Getaways is offering an overnight stay on the floating hotel that comes with nice extras for $129 a night -- a savings of more than $150 -- for a limited time.

The deal: The Groupon coupon costs $129, which includes a room for two aboard the boat with a view of the river (excluding tax), breakfast, a bicycle or electric bicycle rental for two, and a bottle of wine at checkout. The coupon is good for stays Sundays-Thursdays only, and you can combine up to two nights with this offer.

When: You have until 11:59 p.m. Pacific time Sunday to take advantage of the offer. Reservations must be made by Aug. 27 and stays completed by Dec. 30 or the offer expires. It’s subject to availability, and some blackout dates apply.

Details: The savings on this deal are good; rooms I looked at online usually start at $237 a night plus tax in August, for example. Groupon puts the value of the bike rental at up to $40 and the wine, up to $30.

It’s always dicey when you get a good deal but can’t find dates that mesh with your schedule. Read the fine print and restrictions carefully (no rollaway beds, only two to a stateroom, valet parking costs $18 a night) to make sure the deal will work for you.
