Las Vegas: ‘America’s Got Talent’ struts its stuff in Sin City

A singer, a comedian, two magicians and some acrobatic animals are among the performers taking to the stage for seven weeks as “America’s Got Talent Live in Las Vegas” opens at the Palazzo resort.

The first- and second-place finishers from 2012’s Season 7 of the TV talent contest are among the entertainers in the seven-week stint that began Monday.

Olate Dogs, the performing pooches that wowed fans and took home the $1 million top prize, will headline the show in the Palazzo Theatre. On television the dogs, trained by the father-and-son team of Richard and Nicholas Olate, delighted audiences with their backflips and other stunts.

Hosting the show is Season 7 runner-up Tom Cotter, the first comedian ever to reach the “America’s Got Talent” finals. Besides sharing some laughs, he’ll be introducing the other acts. They include:

  • Anna Graceman, the 13-year-old singer-songwriter who delivered a surprisingly soulful rendition of Alicia Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You” when she auditioned for the show’s Season 6.
  • Jarrett & Raja, magicians with a unique blend of illusion, music and comedy.
  • Lightwire Theater, whose troupe members don electroluminescent costumes to perform glow-in-the-dark dance routines.

The production is generally dark on Friday nights, but that varies. The full schedule, and tickets, are available online or by calling (702) 414-9000. Tickets range from $45 to $125.
