Riverside: Mission Inn package at a discount -- and cupcakes
The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa, an architecturally eclectic National Historic Landmark in Riverside, would like you as a guest with a package that’s $189 a night.
You’d be in good company: The inn has played host to 10 U.S. presidents and vice presidents, besides such celebrities as Bette Davis, Barbra Streisand and James Brolin.
The deal: The castle-like downtown hotel, which opened at the turn of the 20th century, is a member of the Historic Hotels of America. It features four dining venues, including a AAA Four Diamond restaurant, a spa and a popular wedding venue, St. Francis of Assisi Chapel. The hotel is offering a $189 package that includes accommodations for two, a $25 resort card, complimentary valet parking and turndown service by Casey’s Cupcakes. (Guests can select the flavors of the cupcakes, which are delivered to the room at a time specified by the guest.)
When: June 1 to June 30.
Details: The usual rate is $239, exclusive of the $25 resort card and cupcake-turndown service. I had no trouble booking the $189 package on June 12.
