Thrill seekers who want to add to the tally of roller coasters they’ve conquered can score deals and special promotions on eight thrill rides in Las Vegas for National Roller Coaster Day on Aug. 16.

At the Roller Coaster at New York-New York, guests can nab buy-one-get-one-free passes to the 67 mph thrill ride. The coaster, which features a 180-degree “heartline” twist-and-dive maneuver, ascends 203 feet to its highest peak before plummeting 144 feet into twists and turns. More than 1.4 million riders scream through the coaster every year. Guests must be at least 54 inches tall to ride.

The Adventuredome at Circus Circus features not one but seven thrill rides at the five-acre theme park. It’s “Coaster Cred” promotion gives riders a punch card that, once completed, earns riders a T-shirt and lanyard. On Aug. 16, the first 100 guests to complete punch cards receive a special National Roller Coaster Day “Coaster Cred” T-shirt.

Riders can start with the newest Adventuredome attraction, El Loco, a four-car roller coaster with twists, turns and drops that ascends 90 feet before dropping over and under.

Then check out the Canyon Blaster with a double-loop, double-corkscrew that speeds through the Adventuredome at 55 mph.

Other rides guests must complete in the challenge include Disk’O with a dual rocking-and-spinning motion, Chaos with three ranges of motion, Sling Shot, which shoots guests up its tower with 4 Gs of acceleration, Inverter with 360 degrees of constant G-force movement and the Extreme Ride Theater featuring “Happy Feet: Mumble’s Wild Ride 4-D.”

Tickets start at $31.95 and everyone must be 48 inches or taller to ride. Individual roller coaster tickets are $12; other individual ride tickets also are available and range from $6 to $9.
