Northam names ODU’s Janice Underwood as Virginia’s first diversity officer

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam announced Monday that Janice Underwood, a top official at Old Dominion University, will be the state’s first director of diversity, equity and inclusion. Northam announced he would create the position in May, three months after the revelation of a racist photo on his medical school yearbook page led to calls for his resignation.
