HTC One to launch in late April, butting heads with Galaxy S 4

HTC has confirmed the One, its next flagship smartphone, will begin selling in the U.S. next month.

The Taiwanese company announced that the 4.7-inch screen device will be available stateside before the end of April. Previously, HTC has said the phone will be carried by AT&T;, Sprint and T-Mobile. It will also be available for purchase at Best Buy.

Earlier this week, a report said the device would be delayed from its original March release to April. Although that will be true for the U.S. release of the device, the HTC One will launch next week in the U.K., Germany and Taiwan.

Besides coming to the U.S. next month, the HTC One will also launch in other parts of North America, all of Europe and parts of Asia in April.

“We appreciate our customers’ patience, and believe that once they have the phone in their hands they will agree that it has been worth the wait,” the company said in a statement Friday.

The HTC One has been receiving critical praise for its crystal clear 1080p HD screen, front-facing dual speakers and high-quality hardware design. But despite those qualities and high praise, the HTC One may have a tough time selling.

That’s because Samsung’s Galaxy S 4 also launches next month, and the South Korean tech company has two key advantages over HTC. First, Samsung’s Galaxy S 4 will carry the momentum created by the highly successful and very popular Galaxy S III. Secondly, no one in the tech world is marketing their products more than Samsung has been in the last month.
