What you entertainment geniuses will be talking about: The Christian movie market. Catherine Hardwicke’s “The Nativity Story” premieres at the Vatican today and will be released in theaters at the end of the week. New Line is pushing some major “The Passion”-style Christian outreach, but Hardwicke (whose previous gigs include kids-gone-wild films “Thirteen” and “Lords of Dogtown”) is sorely lacking Mel Gibson’s religious clout. Will the faithful still come? (Friday)

What you won’t believe you’re talking about: Dog show. The Long Beach Convention Center hosts the American Kennel Club / Eukanuba National Championship on Saturday and next Sunday with many of the canine proceedings simulcast live on Animal Planet and the Discovery Channel. Go, pugs! (Saturday-next Sunday)

What it’s time to talk about again, ready or not: Awards season. The Independent Spirit nominations are announced this week. Let the prognosticating begin. (Tuesday)

What you’ll have to talk about until February: The “Jericho” fall season finale. One of Jericho’s own turns up dead, and Gray (Michael Gaston) organizes a manhunt for Jonah (James Remar), who he believes is the killer. Jake (Skeet Ulrich) and Emily (Ashley Scott) continue to flirt and reminisce about the past, and the cliffhanger setup comes when an unlikely face returns to town. (Wednesday)

What nobody we know will be talking about: Lionel Richie rocks Anaheim. Nicole Richie’s daddy helps celebrate the Tragic Kingdom’s 150th birthday with a concert at the Anaheim Convention Arena. (Today)
