THANKS for the article on the “culinary awakening” of Culver City [“Something’s Cooking,” by S. Irene Virbila, May 3]. Terrific that we are getting so many new restaurants, but we shouldn’t forget those that have nourished us for the past few years. La Dijonaise, Novecento Pasta and Grill, Double Dutch Dinette, Santa Maria Barbecue (moving to a new location), Bistro de l’Hermitage and Pacifico’s, among many others.

MS. VIRBILA is right that the Culver City Redevelopment Agency had long-range plans “to revitalize the downtown area” and the rest of the city through rezoning and the creation of a regional shopping center. Those of us, and there were more than a few [who] preached the gospel of the ABCs -- “A Beautiful City” -- have seen it to fruition, and everyone, whether gourmand or gourmet, is the beneficiary.
