L.A. Modern Auctions
Los Angeles Modern Auctions held its most successful auction ever on Sunday, selling 82% of all lots for a total haul of about $2.3 million. "The dam has broken," said LAMA director Peter Loughrey, who pointed to surprisingly high bids on key pieces as a sign that market conditions finally have improved. Here's a quick look at 20 lots, starting with these four Venini Murano window panels from the Malibu estate of Max Palevsky. Going into the auction they were estimated at $10,000 to $20,000. Price realized (including commission to the auction house): $35,000.
