Native Angeleno Jessica Morgan, 32, is the co-creator (with partner-in-snark Heather Cocks) of hilarious fashion blog gofugyourself.com, which has just spawned a book, “The Fug Awards” (Simon & Schuster). When Morgan isn’t busy critiquing the often tragic red carpet choices of celebrities, she has fashion opportunities of her own.
THE REWARDS OF EXERCISE During football season I’m at the Rose Bowl watching UCLA play football; I have season tickets with friends (I graduated from UCLA in 1997). We stop at Bay Cities Deli in Santa Monica to get sandwiches to tailgate -- along with every other football fan on the Westside. Otherwise I’ll kick off Saturday with a good jog along Ocean Avenue through Palisades Park in Santa Monica, followed by a brisk (read: nearly fatal) tramp up and down the San Vicente steps. Almost killing myself entitles me to shop in Venice. Following a pedicure at Toe Heaven and a burrito at Holy Guacamole, I’ll browse Planet Blue, Principessa, and the rest of the boutiques on Main and Abbot Kinney. This is often followed by a drink at the Other Room, or a glass of wine at Primitivo. BARFLY I’m always on the lookout for the perfect cool-but-not-too-scene-y bar. I don’t know if I’ve found it yet. I like Bar Lubitsch, Arsenal and Firefly in Studio City, which has the best deep-fried olives. Seriously, they will change your life. DOWN ON THE FARM I will only hike on Sundays at the invitation of a cute boy. Otherwise, I do brunch, especially at Quality on 3rd. After food and gossip with friends, I’ll spend a dreamy hour at the Beverly Hills Bristol Farms buying fancy condiments and celeb-spotting. Their deli guys are the nicest, the free samples are out of control, and they have all the random mustards and olives you could possibly desire. Or my friend Carrie and I might go house-hunting. We’re both ready to buy, and open houses are more fun with someone else. They’re also fun if you’re nosy about people’s houses, which I am.
