LA Summer Market moves and expands

Share

Unique USA’s LA Summer Market, which moves from the Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica Airport to downtown Los Angeles this weekend, is changing its program along with its location.

“The most exciting new piece is that we are expanding from being the largest American-made shopping event in the country to becoming an event that offers the community access to and knowledge from an amazing group of creative leaders,” event organizer Sonja Rasula said.

In addition to more than 350 local vendors sharing handcrafted goods, Rasula has invited apron designer Ellen Bennett of Hedley & Bennett, Andrew Gibbs of the packaging design website the Dieline and photographer Bonnie Tsang to discuss their businesses at the Unique Clique Classroom.

Rasula has also added two curated sections this summer, called the Row and Design LAb. The Row features high-end fashion and accessory lines from designers such as Vivian Chan, Tanya Aguiniga and Workers N.Y.; the Design LAb features local furniture makers and industrial designers, including Scout Regalia and Taylor Donsker.

Other highlights include a DIY den for crafters, a photo booth, pop-up bar and a diner from Fred 62.
