Competing plans for L.A. County supervisors' districts

Competing plans for redrawing Los Angeles County Supervisors' districts represent radically different views. The 10-member redistricting committee appointed by the supervisors has recommended a map that is nearly a replica of the current districts. But appointees for Supervisors Gloria Molina and Mark Ridley-Thomas pushed an alternative plan, which could enable the election of a second Latino to the county's most powerful elected body. A public hearing is scheduled Tuesday.
