Dodgers players and fans join A-list stars for the Blue Diamond Gala

Clayton Kershaw rubbed elbows with Matthew McConaughey, Justin Turner sipped beer a few feet away from Taylor Lautner, and Fleetwood Mac took the stage Thursday night at Dodger Stadium in the name of charity, and Vin Scully.

Along with scores of celebrities, Dodgers players past and present walked the “blue carpet” at the second annual Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation’s Blue Diamond Gala. More than 1,000 people attended, with donation packages ranging from a $1,500 VIP entry ticket to a $100,000 Grand Slam sponsorship.

Nichol Whiteman, the foundation’s executive director, estimated that the charity would collect about $2 million from the event. Proceeds will go toward the expansion of the foundation’s two main programs, Dodgers Dreamfields and Dodgers RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities).

The night began with a star-studded party, with guests including A-listers such as John Mayer and Sylvester Stallone. Afterward, players, movie stars and fans filed into the stadium and headed to center field.

A tribute video honored Scully, the legendary and soon-to-be-retired Dodgers broadcaster. Scully took the stage and did what he does best, regaling the crowd with stories.

Following that and an auction, Fleetwood Mac put on a benefit concert in the band’s only performance of 2016.
