Two Orange County men were charged with having sex on multiple occasions with an underage girl, authorities said Monday.
The victim was 13 or younger and told investigators she had sex repeatedly between March and September with her boyfriend “Alex Velasquez” and his “uncle,” according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Her boyfriend turned out to be Benjamin Avila, 26, and the man described as his uncle is Jose Luis Gonzalez, 63, Sheriff’s Department officials said. Both are Anaheim residents.
The victim told investigators that “she had to have sex with Gonzalez in order to continue to see Avila,” department officials said in a statement.
The department said investigators allegedly recovered explicit text messages between Avila and the victim that also implicated Gonzalez.
“In addition,” officials said, “investigators located electronic communication that occurred between Avila and Gonzalez which indicates they have together targeted and met other females for sex.”
The investigation was launched after a parent contacted officials earlier this month at Trabuco Hills High School in Mission Viejo.
Anyone with information on the case or possible additional victims is asked to call authorities at (714) 647-7000.
