Mother held on suspicion of drunk driving after child killed in car crash

One child dead, two seriously hurt, mother arrested on suspicion of drunk driving

A 31-year-old San Diego woman was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and drug possession after a car crash in which one of her children was killed and two others seriously injured, according to El Cajon police.

Brandy Teague was driving a 2010 Hyundai Accent that crashed into a telephone pole Saturday night in downtown El Cajon, police said.

Teague "may have fallen asleep behind the wheel before the collision occurred" about 9:40 p.m., police said.

Teague was taken to a local hospital after complaining of pain, police said. Her three children were taken to Rady Children's Hospital where the 3-year-old girl was pronounced dead.

The other two children - boys, ages 10 and 2 - remain at the hospital with serious injuries that weren't life-threatening, police said.

Teague was arrested and remains in jail on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter, felony child endangerment, drunk driving and possession of drugs, according to jail records.

She was driving on a suspended license, police said.
