The Donut Man’s glaze of glory
Jim Nakano, owner of the the Donut Man in Glendora, hands doughnuts to Jadeyn, left, and Faith Ehmke. Nakano, 71, is a third-generation Japanese American who has a developed a loyal following with his seasonal strawberry- and peach-filled creations. Oh, and the maple bars and Bavarian creams are good too.

Nakano and his wife, Miyoko, began selling the seasonal strawberry doughnut in 1974, following it with another hit: the peach doughnut. He believes his high-end ingredients are why he hasn’t felt the recession’s pinch.
