Dead Humpback Whale Disappears From Beach
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A dead humpback whale that washed up on a beach here has disappeared, ending more than a week of hand-wringing about how to remove the 35-ton carcass.
“We don’t know where he went, but we believe the ocean reclaimed him,” Half Moon Bay Police Cmdr. Lon Waxstein said.
The corpse had been decomposing since the juvenile washed up near Half Moon Bay State Beach on Aug. 14.
