Man arrested over cemetery vandalism
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Police have arrested a 33-year-old man on charges of vandalizing a cemetery and causing about $75,000 in damage.
Authorities said Michael Keefer of Antioch admitted overturning 30 to 40 headstones at Oak Hill Cemetery on Christmas night. Three windows at the cemetery office building also were smashed and the exterior walls were streaked with blue spray paint.
He was arrested Tuesday, and a can of spray paint was later found at his home.
Repairs to the cemetery were expected to take three days.
