The crew of the Boeing 747 carrying the space shuttle Endeavour arrives with the orbitor at Los Angeles International Airport. The sight of the enormous aircraft lumbering on the airport's tarmac brought gasps by many, who were surprised at the large size of Endeavour. The shuttle will remain housed at a United Airlines hangar at the airport until Oct. 12, when it begins a two-day journey across the wide boulevards of Inglewood and Los Angeles to its new home at the science center's Samuel Oschin display pavilion. I waited in my front yard for an hour without knowing if it would come my way. When all of a sudden it came out of the east and went right over my house flying low. It was a strange feeling seeing it land in LA about an hour and a half after flying over my house. What a lucky break.
What a great "space day" yesterday! In the morning, students at Sunset Hills Elementary School in San Diego County interviewed an astronaut who is aboard the International Space Station. Then we have "our" Endeavour come back home!
