The Chicago-born Bertrand married Jon Voight in 1971. The couple separated in 1976 and divorced two years later. Jolie, born Angelina Jolie Voight on June 4, 1975, was a toddler when the couple ended their marriage. Bertrand raised Jolie and her brother in Palisades, N.Y., and L.A. after the divorce.

Bertrand, who studied acting with Lee Strasberg, had small roles in the movies “Lookin’ to Get Out” in 1982 and “The Man Who Loved Women” in 1983. In an interview on “Inside the Actor’s Studio” some years ago, Jolie credited her mother with encouraging her interest in acting.

Survivors include Jolie, Haven and Jolie’s three children, Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt, Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt and Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt.

A private funeral is planned.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Women’s Cancer Research Institute at Cedars-Sinai.
