When will it be over?
Not only is it unclear how the fight for the Democratic presidential nomination will end, but when and where the primary season will close has gotten muddled too.
Puerto Rico, with 55 pledged delegates at stake, is scheduled to be the last venue voting on the Democratic race, with balloting set for June 7. But the Democratic National Committee said Thursday that local party officials had intended the contest , as required in Puerto Rico, to be on the first Sunday of the month -- which turns out to be June 1.
A DNC spokeswoman, Stacie Paxton, scotched the idea that Puerto Rico wanted to leapfrog Montana and South Dakota. Those states hold primaries June 3 that -- if Puerto Rico’s date switch is approved, as expected -- will be the last Democratic contests.
Puerto Rico’s election date mix-up, Paxton said, “was just a clerical error.”
