Readers React: Making it easier to use public transportation to get to LAX

As a rollerbag-schlepping frequent flier, I look with great interest on any proposals to make it easier to use public transportation to get to LAX. (“Finally, a train to the plane?,” Editorial, June 26, and “Fixing a missing link,” June 27)

From my perspective, it’s important to make the transition to the airport as simple as possible at a minimal cost to the passenger, with a seamless transfer process.
The traveler experience must be seriously considered when finalizing the solution. A traveler should be able to use one ticket purchased for the entire trip on Metro and the “people-mover.” A minimum of walking, and consideration for special-access needs, must be included. Also, reliable frequency is a must, to ensure that travelers can make their airline connections.

Passenger comfort — with seats and sufficient standing room and air conditioning for weather considerations — is also very important.
This effort should be carefully considered and done right to make up for the failure to build the rail line to LAX in the first place.
