Chris Foster’s keys to the game and how UCLA measured up:

1. Run or fall. The Bruins didn’t dominate on the ground, but still managed 133 yards rushing against a defense that was ranked second nationally, giving up only 29 yards rushing per game. The credit goes to UCLA’s offensive line, which created enough running room for tailbacks Kahlil Bell and Chris Markey.

2. Better to take than give away. Oregon State, which came into the game with a minus-eight turnover ratio, committed five more -- two on kickoff returns. The Bruins intercepted two passes and forced a fumble that led to a touchdown.

3. Can Canfield connect, or will Ben be big? Oregon State quarterback Sean Canfield was overwhelmed by the Bruins, while UCLA quarterback Ben Olson was efficient and threw two touchdown passes.
