The Dodgers and reliever Paco Rodriguez got good news of different sorts Tuesday, an otherwise drab day in which the team’s scheduled game with the Minnesota Twins was postponed by cold and rainy weather.

The Dodgers took advantage of the down time to recall Rodriguez from triple-A Albuquerque, sending infielder Carlos Triunfel back down. But that wasn’t necessarily the best news for the team.

Triunfel, you see, was called up Sunday because the Dodgers were concerned about Hanley Ramirez’s injured hand. So the fact he has been sent back down means the team is satisfied Ramirez can play every day.

For Rodriguez, the recall is doubly good. For one, he’s back in the majors after making three scoreless appearances in triple A. But it also means he’s likely to see his 7-month-old son in Miami this weekend, when the Dodgers visit Florida to play the Marlins.

“I can hardly wait,” Rodriguez said.
