Technically, Floyd would be the favorite

Tim Floyd’s meltdown and ejection against Arizona State during the regular season left a mark in the postseason. According to the sportsbook BetUS.com, Floyd is the coach most likely to draw the first technical of the NCAA tournament and most likely to be ejected.

BetUS.com sets the odds of Floyd drawing the tournament’s first technical at 2-1, putting the USC coach just ahead of Syracuse’s Jim Boeheim (3-1). Floyd is a 2-1 choice to be the first coach ejected, ahead of Connecticut’s Jim Calhoun and Louisiana State’s Trent Johnson at 3-1.

Other proposition odds: Most likely team to get in a brawl: Siena, 2-1. Odds that you fill out your bracket 100% correctly: 1 in 150 million.

All atwitter

State of the art technology clashed with old-school basketball thinking -- i.e., the game is the only thing that matters -- when Milwaukee Bucks forward Charlie Villanueva used his cellphone to post a Twitter feed during halftime of Sunday’s game against the Boston Celtics.

Using the screen name “CV31” -- Villanueva’s initials and uniform number -- he posted this “tweet” midway through the game: “In da locker room, snuck to post my twitt. Were playing the Celtics, tie ball game at da half. Coach wants more toughness. I gotta step up.”

The Bucks wound up winning the game, but Coach Scott Skiles was less than thrilled with Villanueva being less than focused on the game at hand.

“We made a point to Charlie and the team that it’s nothing we ever want to happen again,” Skiles said Tuesday.

A record, of sorts

ESPN.com’s Andy Katz set out to interview all 65 tournament head coaches during ESPNU’s five-hour college basketball special on Monday. He wound up reaching 63. That is not to say that the interviews were particularly insightful or expansive.

In one stretch Katz interviewed four coaches in eight minutes.

He stayed on the phone long enough to get North Dakota State Coach Saul Phillips to talk about his favorite scene from the movie “Fargo.”

“The scene where the police officer [is] standing there talking to a guy and they talk about the weather for five minutes,” Phillips said. “That is my life verbatim every day up here. You cannot have a conversation with someone in Fargo without the weather . . . coming up.”

Trivia answer

Floyd was called for three technical fouls and USC won two road games this season.
