Clippers’ Blake Griffin in MVP conversation
Blake Griffin has impressed enough basketball pundits this season that he is being considered as a candidate for the NBA’s most valuable player award.
Griffin is in the conversation along with Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant and Miami’s LeBron James.
Dallas Coach Rick Carlisle, whose Mavericks lost to the Clippers on Thursday, has taken notice of Griffin’s play this season.
“He’s having a monster year,” Carlisle said. “And he’s playing at a high level. Those are usually the two ingredients that gets you in that conversation. I mean, it’s legit. It’s legit. I don’t think he’ll win it. But I think him being in the conversation is legit.”
Griffin is averaging 24.3 points per game this season, sixth-best in the NBA.
He had his string of scoring 20 points or more in a game snapped at 30 against the Mavericks, finished with 18.
