The USC Peace Garden is one of few green spaces in South LA. It opened in 2023 providing free produce, plants and a safe space. Late May of this year, the staff of the USC Peace Gardens learned that the land their cherished garden was on would be sold on June 30.
Quincy Bowie Jr. is a video fellow at the Los Angeles Times. The proud Alabama native graduated from USC, where he studied journalism and documentary. In his time there, he contributed to the Daily Trojan, USC Annenberg Media and produced multiple documentaries and short films. Lauren Ng was a 2025 summer intern with the Food section of the Los Angeles Times. A Torrance native, she has previously written and edited for Food Fix, an American food policy newsletter, and is pursuing bachelor’s degrees in journalism and food studies at New York University, where she is the managing editor of the award-winning student newspaper.
