7:17 p.m.: Are there really people who still doubt the seriousness of ‘Avatar’s’ candidacy for the big prize at the Oscars? James Cameron takes the Golden Globe for best director (actually, he was one of the people who doubted it, says he thought ex Kathryn Bigelow would take it). Then he kind of does what the Golden Globes haven’t seen since, well, ever - he thanks people in a language he created as though it’s a real spoken language. Somewhere, a thousand linguistic professors are crying.

We’re just waiting for a smart-aleck reporter backstage to ask him a question in Na’vi.
